What We Do
What we do
At Ubuntu Mobility Empowerment, we help women move forward — through driving, confidence, and independence.
Ubuntu Mobility Empowerment provides free mobility training and development opportunities through our signature campaign, Drive Her Forward.
Our key focus areas include:
Learner’s Licence Support: Theory classes, study materials, and mock tests to help participants pass confidently.
Driver’s Licence Training: Behind-the-wheel lessons, professional instruction, and full test preparation.
Youth Empowerment: Offering mobility education to high school learners (especially Grade 12s) to prepare them for work opportunities.
Inclusion for Persons with Disabilities: Adapting training to meet individual needs and ensure full accessibility.
Community Partnerships: Working with local organisations, dealerships, and sponsors to provide vehicles, instructors, and funding.
Our goal is to empower participants with skills, confidence, and independence, helping them reach education, employment, and safety opportunities once out of reach.
Why We Do What We Do
The reality is stark — mobility is still unequal in South Africa.
According to Stats SA:
Only 21.8% of women in South Africa hold a driver’s licence, compared to 40.1% of men.
Among Black African women, this number drops to just 13.4%.
Yet, over 65% of job opportunities require a valid driver’s licence.
This gap doesn’t just limit travel — it limits access to jobs, safety, and self-sufficiency.
At Ubuntu Mobility Empowerment, we believe that when a woman can drive, she drives her family, her community, and her nation forward.
